The Heart Behind the Camera
I was born in Katherine and have always felt deeply connected to the Territory. It's where my family is, where my roots are, and where I'm now raising my own little boy.
My love for photography began when I was around ten years old, learning alongside my grandmother. We would spend hours waiting for the perfect moment to photograph wildlife and landscapes. She is an incredibly talented photographer whose work has been shared across the world, and she was the first person to teach me the value of patience, storytelling and preserving moments in time.
As life became busier, photography slowly took a back seat. I focused on school, university and eventually became a Registered Nurse in 2015.
Over the years, nursing gave me the privilege of witnessing some of life's most significant moments. I've held hands during final goodbyes, celebrated new beginnings and cared for people during some of their most vulnerable days. It taught me how precious life is, how quickly time passes, and how important it is to hold onto the people we love.
In 2024, after a long and challenging IVF journey, we welcomed our little boy into the world. Becoming a mother changed me in ways I never expected. It made me realise just how fleeting these chapters are and how photographs become some of the most treasured things we have.
During maternity leave, I found my way back to photography. I immersed myself in education, mentorship and refining my craft. What started as a quiet dream - perhaps a little business that might succeed, or might not - quickly became something much bigger than I ever imagined.
I was tired from nursing and searching for a way to continue giving back to people, just in a different way.
Since opening Captured by Cody at the end of 2025, I've had the honour of documenting growing families, newborn babies and the moments that matter most. Watching this little business grow has been one of the proudest chapters of my life.
Today, I intentionally take on a limited number of families each week so I can provide a personal, unhurried experience from start to finish. My goal isn't just to create beautiful photographs. It's to create photographs that feel like your family and become part of your home for years to come.
